Nate is a 4 year Newfoundland. He is up to date on all vaccines, healthy, housebroken and neutered. Nate is a friendly guy that loves kids.
Nate is looking for a new forever home due to some fence guarding and escaping issues.
Prior to his current home Nate lived in a big yard where he was able to hone his fence guarding & escaping techniques. He see things on the outside of the fence as a threat and growls and barks. In his current home the yard has a stockade fence which he guards constantly.
Nate is an escape artist and can open gates and doors if they have a liftable or pushable handle or latch. He would require a safe environment so he couldn't escape. He tests things by pushing, lifting, digging near, etc. So he does constantly look for a way out. He lives with 4 kids and sometimes a gate or door gets left open and Nate will escape.
Nate has been through basic & intermediate obedience training and agility classes and does well but likes to do things at his own pace.
Nate is wonderful with kids - mostly ignores them but is happy with their presence. He gets along well with other dogs and is not an alpha.
Our best guess for Nate is a home with lots of outdoor space - he would spend the entire day outside, winter, summer, fall, spring - rain, snow, sun. And a very secure fence that he couldn't get over or open up in any way. A farm, large suburban home. Someplace so he could do his job.
Nate is good on leash and doesn't need to be crated when left alone but he is a dog of opportunity. If you leave anything out food-wise, even wrappers, he's all over it. He is not destructive and enjoys bones and chew toys - although they might not last long.

I am looking to find a new home for both Max and Raleigh. I think it is important that they stay together in their new home. The reason I am searching for a new home for them is my increasingly busy travel schedule. As of late, they have less and less of my time as I am on the road. The expense along with the scheduling has proven most difficult as of late. They are still young and thrive on companionship. They get along well with children, and other animals.
The boys have certainly not lacked for much in their lives. I have had Raleigh since he was 12 weeks old and rescued Max from the streets when he was 4. They truly love one another and it is important that they stay together. A stranger do they not meet. They are good with other dogs and love people; adults and children the like. Unfortunately, they do not always get along with cats as they would like to herd them. They have the run of the house and are both are respectful of furniture. They love to play together and many times will instigate the other into a rouse of chase and wrestle. Their favorite activity is sleeping and both love to lay and sit with and on you.
Raliegh is now 9 years old, although, you would think he is still a puppy. He is a bit obsessed with a ball and fetch and will play as long as you are willing to throw...literally until he is exausted. Max is a bit more independent, but, loves to get in a good game of fetch and toss. They do tend to ammuse themselves. Both love the dog beach and long walks along the lake. Max is now 5.5 and a true beagle, more like a hoover with his nose to the ground in search of the next unexpecting squirrel.
I am hoping they can find someone loving and able to give them the time they deserve. I am willing to assist in whatever ways that might be needed. Please note that I am willing to help fund their transfer. I will assure that they are up to date with their veterinary and all of their needs.

This pretty girl was found in Warren Park around 3pm on Wednesday 9/28. She was not wearing any collar or harness, is not microchipped, and does not seem to be fixed. She looks to be about 6-7 months, is extremely friendly, and is good with other dogs. If her owners are not found soon, the current foster will need to relinquish her to someone else. We hope to keep her out of a shelter!
